NAOMI CAMPBELL, CINDY CRAWFORD AND CLAUDIA SCHIFFER ARE THE BALMAIN ARMY'S NEWEST RECRUITS

No Jenners or Hadids here. Olivier Rousteing brought in supermodel pros Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer for Balmain's just-released spring 2016 campaign, photographed by Steven Klein.

The shoot took place in a New York City studio with creative direction by Pascal Dangin. Both Dangin and Rousteing wanted to keep the lighting minimal, along with the models' hair and makeup, by Shay Ashual and Yadim, respectively. Instead, the main focus is on the iconic trio and the clothes — simple in execution but powerful in impact. Although Rousteing's runway show in Paris made us quickly think of the Kardashians as the only probable wearers of the collection, his latest recruits to the Balmain Army (veterans of the industry, no less) are even better.

Rousteing added, "Looking at them now, I like to think that perhaps someday these shots might also form part of some future designer's mood board." As the images are already quickly making its way onto news feeds, we expect the chances of a mood board are just as likely.
